ASI8702 AND ASI8703 BROADCAST TUNER ADAPTER.
NEWCASTLE,DE (March 1, 2004) – AudioScience, Inc., a maker of professional audio peripherals for broadcast and entertainment has announced the ASI8702 and ASI8703 eight channel broadcast tuner adapters.
The ASI8702 is a universal PCI card that contains eight AM/FM tuners. Each tuner may be set to an independent AM or FM radio station. The audio from each tuner is presented to the computer host as a mono or stereo record stream which may be accessed through a high speed bus master interface.
The ASI8703 is similar to the ASI8702 except it contains eight FM/TV audio tuners.
The AM portion of each tuner (ASI8702 only) has a medium wave tuning range of 520kHz to 1750kHz. FM capabilities include a tuning range of 76MHz-108MHz with software controlled stereo decoding. In TV mode (ASI8703 only) channels 2 through 69 are tunable.
An RF connector on the card bracket supplies the AM/FM/TV signal to the tuners. Each tuner has a software selectable attenuation of 0 or 20dB. A DB-9 connector supplies a line level mono version of each tuner audio signal. The full stereo signal is available from a 50pin header on the board.
An onboard 225MHz 32bit floating point DSP from Texas Instruments provides audio routing, processing and streaming allowing up to eight stereo streams to be sent to the host PC for recording or further analysis.
Driver support includes Windows 2000, Windows XP and Linux. Under Windows, both a low latency WDM driver and traditional WAVE driver are available. Linux support includes the standard ALSA interface as well as the AudioScience HPI interface. An open source Video4Linux driver is in development.
Applications for the adapters include broadcast monitoring and logging, advertising verification and content identification.
