AUDIOSCIENCE ADOPTS CIRRUS LOGIC CHIPS, POWERED BY COBRANET TECHNOLOGY
NEWCASTLE, DE (August 1, 2004) – AudioScience Inc., a specialist in digital audio peripherals for the broadcast and entertainment markets, has announced that it has adopted Cirrus Logic’s (NASDAQ: CRUS) CS181xx family of CobraNet™ enabled IC’s for future network-based radio broadcast products.
“We have done extensive research into the various network protocols for transporting digital audio and have concluded that CobraNet-enabled IC’s are the best candidate for the job,” said Stephen Turner, vice president of AudioScience. “The broadcast industry is beginning to see that audio-over-Ethernet is a logical step from the analog or AES/EBU wiring schemes currently employed by radio stations, and we intend to promote that industry shift, using CobraNet-based products.”
CobraNet technology from Cirrus Logic Inc. is the leading technology for distributing uncompressed, real-time, digital audio over a Fast Ethernet network. In recent months, Cirrus Logic has embedded CobraNet technology into a family of IC’s (CS181xxx).
