AUDIOSCIENCE'S ASI564x SERIES LINEAR PCI EXPRESS SOUND CARDS
New Price Point for PC Express

NEWCASTLE, DE (March 06, 2009) – Broadening its products based on PCI Express, AudioScience, Inc., a leader of professional audio peripherals for the broadcast and entertainment industries, today unveiled the ASI564x series of linear PCI Express sound cards.

The ASI564x series are the junior partners of the ASI6600 series of PCI Express sound cards, used extensively in radio station automation. The new cards retain high end features such as +24dBu balanced analog audio with 110dB dynamic range, together with AES/EBU digital I/O with hardware sample rate converters on all inputs. Multi-channel support is standard. Using the surround sound extensions (SSX), streams of up to 8 channels may be played, recorded and mixed. These cards are ideal for applications such as radio production and automation systems that do not require DSP based MPEG compression.

The ASI564x series contains three models

  • ASI5640 - 4 stereo/8 mono I/O with balanced analog interfaces
  • ASI5641 - 4 stereo/8 mono I/O with AES/EBU interfaces
  • ASI5644 - 4 stereo/8 mono I/O with both balanced analog and AES/EBU interfaces
  • “We have made PCI Express more accessible via a lower price point” says Stephen Turner, Vice President of AudioScience. “As technology marches on, free PCI slots are becoming harder to find in modern computers. PCI Express is really where the future lies.”

Drivers are provided for Vista, Vista-64, Windows XP, Server 2003, as well as for Linux. SDKs are available for Windows and Linux using either standard APIs such as DirectSound or ALSA, or the proprietary AudioScience HPI and ASX interfaces.

The ASI564x series will be available in April 2009. For pricing and further information, contact Richard Gross at +1-302-324-5333 or T.K. Pang in Asia at +65 98184303.
