AUDIOSCIENCE ADDS PCI EXPRESS TUNER ADAPTER
ASI8821 Augments Respected Product Line

NEWCASTLE, DE (June 23, 2010) – AudioScience, Inc., a leader of professional audio peripherals for the broadcast and installed sound and entertainment industries, announces the addition of a PCI Express (PCIe) version to its award-winning broadcast tuner line; the ASI8821. The ASI8821 opens up new platforms of possibilities for systems integrators when designing and building monitoring machines for use in radio and TV broadcast audio monitoring.

The ASI8821 has the same functionality as its 2-year-old cousin, the ASI8921, including half-length PCI size, AM and FM de-emphasis, and RDS/RDBS metadata monitoring. An F connector feeds RF signal from an external antenna to all tuners on the ASI8921. On the AM/FM module, each tuner may also be fed from an external antenna input per tuner. An HD50 connector makes available the mono or stereo line level audio of each tuner output.

"A couple of years ago, the half-length size of the ASI8921 was needed by the marketplace as PCs were built with less space available inside." said Richard Gross, president of AudioScience. "And now there's another transformation of the inside of PCs; some PCs now only have PCIe slots available. Logically, our customers need a PCIe tuner adapter."

Drivers are provided for Windows 7, XP, Server 2003/2008, as well as for Linux. 64-bit drivers are available for Windows 7 and Linux. SDKs are available for Windows and Linux using either standard APIs such as DirectSound or ALSA, or the proprietary AudioScience HPI and ASX interfaces.
